PADI Open-Water Course

The PADI Open-water course is your entry level into scuba diving. At the start of your course you will receive your open-water manual. You will work through this manual at home in order to complete the open water course.

Your practical will begin with a Discover Scuba Diving, swimming pool session. During this session you will learn the basic scuba skills, which includes learning how to put a scuba kit on, whilst getting to know your instructor. This first session will last for 2 hours and then followed by 2 more pool sessions, where you will learn everything you need to know for your open water weekend.

Once the practical is complete there will be a theory session with your instructor followed by a theory exam, prior to your open-water weekend. The open- water weekend consists of 4 open-water dives (in one of the local inland sites), where you will be asked to perform the skills you have learnt throughout your pool and theory sessions.

Once this is completed you will become a PADI Open-Water scuba diver. This certification will allow you to dive anywhere in the world, to a maximum depth of 18 metres.

It is also possible to complete your open-water in a dry suit. This will include an additional pool session which enables you to learn the techniques for diving in a dry suit.
